Dev blog #3


Welcome to my third dev post of my game. I've added some new and interesting features and bug fixes.

> Main Features added

  • Added an airstrike ability for the player to call in.

> details

The air strike ability will call in an aircraft from a random direction to drop a bomb on the point that you have locked onto. 

There is a calculated curve that the bomb follows after drop to allow for a consistent and smooth looking drop from any angle.

> Bug Fixes

  • Error with building the project, remade project in another project and builds now work.
  • mouse does not move the drone when tabbed out the game now.
  • You can tab into the game more than once and the mouse will be confined to the window. 

> Known bugs

  • flight angle of the aircraft rotates incorrectly when approaching at certain angles. This may not be fixed as I kind of like the movement that it makes.
  • there is a slight jitter when the Bezier path for the bomb is calculated.  This is minor issue but I will have a look at in spare time. 

> future features.

  • I hope to start creating moving infantry and vehicles to target. 
  • Bolster up the land scape with buildings for the enemies to use has cover.
  • Add a 30mm barrage ability.
  •  I need to re add the visual fidelity from my old project to the new because right now I'm lacking a skybox, baked lighting and any post processing. 
  • Will be adding UI effects so you can see when the cool down for your ability is down and a little icon to go with it.
